Spreading love and acceptance this Autism Acceptance Month! Collier staff came together for a blue out to show support for the autism community, giving ribbons and bracelets for students to participate. Let's celebrate inclusion and acceptance for all!

 

Collier School hosted their March  Mental Health Forum tackling school avoidance, a challenge many students face, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead of punishment, we prioritize compassion and understanding for students struggling with attending school. Since 2017, our Shepherding Program has been providing support as students navigate their return to school. More info about the program and the various student support services provided can be found below.

 

April 2 is #worldautismacceptanceday and #worldautismawarenessday. Join Collier Youth Services and Autism NJ in promoting #autismacceptance today and throughout the year to help increase the understanding and acceptance of individuals with autism and their families.

Liam, a standout in our work-based learning program, gained valuable experience pricing records at a recent event with VPI Industries. Liam is acquiring a diverse range of skills including customer service, audio engineering, and a deep understanding of the intricacies within the music industry, which he aspires to join after graduation. This opportunity provided invaluable insights and networking with local enthusiasts.

 Closing #NationalSocialWorkMonth with our Clinical Coordinator of the Kateri Program Paige Krupnick! Ms. Krupnick works with students who need a more nurturing and safe environment than the mainstream school, supporting them to grow socially and academically in a way that works for them.

 

 

Last week, our Collier service learners worked hard to beautify the Coastal Communities Family Success Center for spring!  Huge thank you to Coastal Communities Family Success Center for the tasty lunch and fun goodie bags. Through this collaboration, our students are discovering that hard work and teamwork can make a world of difference in others lives as well as their own.
