CHS Students Featured in National English Honor Society Newsletter!

Students in Collier High School's National English Honor Society chapter recently participated in a unique field trip that brought literature, music, and New Jersey history to life. Their experience was later featured in the National English Honor Society newsletter, a prestigious national publication that highlights outstanding academic experiences from schools across the country.

During the trip, students explored the roots and legacy of Bruce Springsteen, beginning in Freehold, New Jersey, where they visited locations connected to his childhood and early life. Next, they traveled to the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University, where students learned how music and song lyrics can be studied as literature and preserved as important cultural history.

The day concluded in Asbury Park, a landmark town in Springsteen’s career. Students visited iconic sites, including the Stone Pony and the Asbury Park boardwalk, connecting their classroom studies to the real-world places that influenced one of New Jersey’s most celebrated artists.

The National English Honor Society newsletter feature recognized Collier students for their thoughtful engagement, academic curiosity, and ability to connect literature to history and lived experience. Being selected for national recognition is a significant achievement and reflects the dedication of both the students and their educators.

Additionally, one of our NEHS students was chosen as one of three Poet Laureates for the National English Honor Society for all chapters nationally and internationally.

Collier High School is proud of its National English Honor Society students, and NEHS Advisor Kristin DiStefano, for representing the school on a national stage and demonstrating the power of learning that extends beyond the classroom.
