Collier School students don't drive and text
Recently, Collier School students participated in the UGotBrains Champion Schools Project, sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey, the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, and NJ Manufacturers Insurance Company.
The students created a web site (http://www.DriveTextFail.com) that demonstrates the risks of texting while driving. In several very creative videos, students act out the dangers of texting while driving. Several videos showed cellphone dangers by highlighting (in a humorous way) non-driving distractions — phone calls that cause fingers to be stapled instead of papers, or eggs to be spilled while trying to cook and text. Other videos showed the very real consequences of texting while driving through spectacular special effects and drama.
The videos used the talents of many students including students from Collier's special effects make-up class, video production class, and advanced technology class. The DriveTextFail.com website also features stories submitted by visitors to the site.
